2 known faults

Hybride 122

  1. 12 V battery discharging

    Severity 1/3 · Annoying

The small 12 V auxiliary battery, not the hybrid battery, is the fault most often reported: it runs flat on short trips, after prolonged standing or with accessories permanently connected (WhoCanFixMyCar), and repeated discharges wear it out prematurely. When too weak, it prevents the hybrid system from starting (CarVerif). 12% of owners surveyed by What Car? cite problems with the 12 V battery, bodywork or infotainment. Owners of the Corolla Touring Sports report batteries going flat repeatedly (Toyota Owners Club).

  2. Brake pedal bracket bolt not tightened correctly (recall)

    Manufacturer recall

On Corollas and C-HRs built between June 2019 and March 2020, the bolt securing the bracket that connects the brake pedal to the dashboard may not have been tightened to the correct torque. If it loosens, the pedal can move back towards the driver in a crash, and repeated hard braking can deform its mounting point. Toyota recalled the affected vehicles to check and retighten this bolt (CCPC, Tipperary Live); What Car? also mentions this recall.

Fixed free of charge by a dealer and not counted in the reliability score: ask for proof the work was done (invoice, or a VIN check at a dealer).

Read fault codes

An OBD scanner plugged in under the steering wheel shows stored fault codes, even with warning lights off: useful during the test drive.
