  1. Recall: door latches failing in high heat

    Manufacturer recall

UK recall from 2018: the latch locking mechanism can malfunction in high heat and the door can open while driving. It concerns single-cab and double-cab L200s built between December 2015 and July 2016; Mitsubishi replaces the complete mechanism. One source gives a narrower window (10 December 2015 to 5 June 2016): check the VIN with a Mitsubishi dealer.

Fixed free of charge by a dealer and not counted in the reliability score: ask for proof the work was done (invoice, or a VIN check at a dealer).

  2. EGR and particulate filter: warning lights, limp mode

    Severity 1/3 · Annoying

Owners of L200s from this generation report repeated work on the EGR valve and particulate filters that clog; an owner of the 2.4 4N15 describes EGR/DPF fault codes with limp mode, resolved by reprogramming the engine computer. These testimonies are anecdotal, with no frequency statistics.

Price and diagnose repairs

Read fault codes

An OBD scanner plugged in under the steering wheel shows stored fault codes, even with warning lights off: useful during the test drive.
