Verdict

Buy with care

City car relaunched in France in 2024, available as a 48 V mild hybrid (1.2 with 100 hp) or as an electric car (Elettrica with 156 hp, 403 km WLTP). Ypsilons built between March 2024 and April 2025 were the subject of a recall for fire risk (missing nut on the high-pressure fuel hose): check that it has been carried out. The track record is short, and no Euro NCAP rating for this generation has been found.

Known faults

Missing nut on high-pressure fuel hose (recall, fire risk)

Manufacturer recall

Lancia Ypsilons built between March 2024 and April 2025 are subject to a recall: the absence of a nut on the high-pressure hose between the pump and the rail can cause a fuel leak and a risk of fire. This recall is part of the Stellantis recall for its 1.2 EB2 Gen-3 engine (retightening of the nuts, free of charge at dealers). It concerns the petrol version; sources differ on its exact scope, to be checked with the serial number.

Fixed free of charge by a dealer and not counted in the reliability score: ask for proof the work was done (invoice, or a VIN check at a dealer).

Manufacturer recalls

See the official list on RappelConso (new tab) (French government recall site: category “Automobiles et moyens de déplacement”, search “Lancia Ypsilon”). A dealer for the brand can also check, using the vehicle identification number (VIN), that recalls have been carried out.

⚠ Estimates to treat with caution

  • Insurance: average for a closely related model (other generation or same platform).
  • Maintenance: published servicing price plus an estimated allowance for tyres and brakes.
  • Depreciation estimated at 12% of the median price a year, as no year-by-year valuation is usable.
Calculation details (12,000 km a year)
Fuel (petrol)€113

Ibrida 100 version: combined consumption of 4.6 L/100 km, increased by 15% for real-world driving, at 2.14 €/L, for 1,000 km a month.

4.6 × 1.15 × 2.14 € × 10 = €113

Petrol price (SP95-E10): French national average on 7 October 2026.

Inspection checklist

Things to check

  • Have the fuel hose recall checked with the serial number, at a Lancia dealer or on Rappel Conso, to confirm the work has been done (hybrid built before May 2025).
  • Ask for the service book and invoices: the track record for this generation is very short.
  • Hybrid: test drive both cold and warm to look for any leak or smell of fuel, and any sudden cut-out.
  • Electric: ask for the battery condition and test charging on AC and on a fast charger.
  • Check the multimedia screen and driver assistance systems during the test drive.

Questions to ask the seller

  • Has the high-pressure fuel hose recall been carried out? Do you have proof?
  • Where has it been serviced, and is there an up-to-date service book?
  • For the electric version: how was it charged (at home, at fast chargers), and what real-world range do you get?

Test-drive tip: read the fault codes

A warning light that is off proves nothing: a fault may have been cleared just before the viewing. A Bluetooth OBD2 scanner, plugged in under the steering wheel and read on your phone, shows stored codes and whether all emissions readiness tests have run since the last reset.
