1.0 EcoBoost 100

  1. Wet timing belt on the 1.0 EcoBoost

    Severity 3/3 · Serious

The 1.0 EcoBoost in the Courier is one of the engines whose belt runs in oil (Torqd, Apexx Engines, Andrews Car Centre). As it degrades, the belt releases particles into the oil circuit; Fiches-auto explains that this debris can block the strainer and stop the engine being lubricated. Torqd estimates the replacement at between £450 and £850 for a Connect or a Courier. Ask for service invoices and for oil that meets Ford's recommendations.

  1. Clogged particulate filter (diesel)

    Severity 1/3 · Annoying

Autodoc cites clogging of the particulate filter on the diesel Tourneo Courier; Transit Center attributes it to short journeys that prevent regeneration, with a clogged EGR valve as a frequent cause. These sources are servicing and parts websites, so the risk is mainly linked to urban use.

Read fault codes

An OBD scanner plugged in under the steering wheel shows stored fault codes, even with warning lights off: useful during the test drive.
