Verdict
Small family MPV with a large boot (395 litres according to Motoreu), offered in 1.0 EcoBoost 100 hp petrol and TDCi diesel. The 1.0 EcoBoost belongs to the family with a timing belt running in oil, whose degradation can damage the engine: the service history and the oil used should be checked. The diesel is reported for clogging of its particulate filter in urban use.

Known faults
Wet timing belt on the 1.0 EcoBoost
Severity 3/3 · SeriousThe 1.0 EcoBoost in the Courier is one of the engines whose belt runs in oil (Torqd, Apexx Engines, Andrews Car Centre). As it degrades, the belt releases particles into the oil circuit; Fiches-auto explains that this debris can block the strainer and stop the engine being lubricated. Torqd estimates the replacement at between £450 and £850 for a Connect or a Courier. Ask for service invoices and for oil that meets Ford's recommendations.

Clogged particulate filter (diesel)
Severity 1/3 · AnnoyingAutodoc cites clogging of the particulate filter on the diesel Tourneo Courier; Transit Center attributes it to short journeys that prevent regeneration, with a clogged EGR valve as a frequent cause. These sources are servicing and parts websites, so the risk is mainly linked to urban use.

Real monthly cost
Fuel, insurance, maintenance and depreciation, excluding finance. Move the slider to match your mileage. How it is calculated
| Fuel or electricity | €108 |
|---|---|
| Insurance | €65 |
| Maintenance | €34 |
| Depreciation | €100 |
| Total per month | €307 |
⚠ Estimates to treat with caution
- NEDC consumption (older, more optimistic than WLTP) as no WLTP figure is published: fuel is probably slightly underestimated.
- Insurance: brand average, as no average is published for this model.
- Maintenance: published servicing price plus an estimated allowance for tyres and brakes.
- Maintenance: budget of a closely related model.
- Depreciation estimated at 12% of the median price a year, as no year-by-year valuation is usable.
Calculation details (12,000 km a year)
- Fuel (diesel)€108
TDCi 95 version: combined consumption of 4 L/100 km, increased by 15% for real-world driving, at 2.347 €/L, for 1,000 km a month.
4 × 1.15 × 2.347 € × 10 = €108
Diesel price: French national average on 7 October 2026.
Consumption: technical data for the version (sources at the bottom of the guide).
- Insurance€65
Average monthly premium published for this model by insurance comparison sites (comprehensive cover when stated). Your premium depends on your profile.
- Maintenance€34
Servicing and wear parts (tyres, brakes) for 12,000 km a year, per month.
- Depreciation€100
Value lost in a year by a typical example, from the valuation gap between two years, per month.

Things to check
- 1.0 EcoBoost: ask for service invoices, the type of oil used and proof that the timing belt has been replaced.
- Check with the serial number (VIN) at a Ford dealer which recalls have been carried out; a fuel line recall concerns Tourneo Courier vehicles built between November 2021 and September 2024 (Car-Recalls.eu).
- Diesel: ask how the vehicle has been used (short trips or open road) and check there is no particulate filter warning light.
- Check the gearbox and clutch operate correctly on the test drive (owners report faults on Caradisiac).
- Test the electronics: dashboard, car radio, lighting.
Questions to ask the seller
- Has the timing belt of the 1.0 EcoBoost been replaced, when, and with which oil were the oil changes done?
- Have all Ford recalls been carried out (certificate from a dealer based on the serial number)?
- For the diesel: how was it used (town or road), and have any particulate filter problems been dealt with?
Test-drive tip: read the fault codes
A warning light that is off proves nothing: a fault may have been cleared just before the viewing. A Bluetooth OBD2 scanner, plugged in under the steering wheel and read on your phone, shows stored codes and whether all emissions readiness tests have run since the last reset.

Opinions are mixed: Caradisiac reports 1.0 EcoBoost owners with no trouble after more than 200,000 km, but also criticism of the diesel's gearbox and of Ford's after-sales service. The point to watch on the 1.0 EcoBoost is its timing belt running in oil.
What is the boot capacity of the Tourneo Courier?
395 litres according to Motoreu (390 litres according to AutoScout24). L'argus gives 708 litres in the five-seat configuration and 1,656 litres with the seats folded, figures measured differently.
Which engines are found in the used Tourneo Courier?
One 100 hp 1.0 EcoBoost petrol, and two 75 and 95 hp TDCi diesels (L'argus, Blog-moteur).
