Our conclusion
Two city cars with 5 Euro NCAP stars and no serious documented fault. The Yaris IV has the better reliability score (5/5 against 4/5): only a 12 V battery that discharges if the car is driven little is reported. The Clio V accumulates more minor faults (12 V battery, electronics, transmission of early 140 hp hybrids). The Clio, however, offers more room (391 L boot in petrol, 309 L in hybrid, against 286 L for the Yaris) and comes in petrol, diesel and hybrid, whereas the Yaris IV is sold only as a hybrid. For reliability, the Yaris; for space and choice of engines, the Clio.
