Our conclusion
The Sandero III has a slightly higher reliability rating (4.5/5 against 4/5): its documented faults are minor (electronics, rear windows). But its protection is markedly weaker: 2 stars at Euro NCAP in 2021, against 5 for the Clio V in 2019. If safety matters to you, the Clio V is the best choice. The Sandero stands out for its mechanical simplicity; the Clio offers a bigger boot in petrol form (391 L against 328 L) and a hybrid version.
