  1. Recall (United States): dashboard wiring harness may short-circuit

    Manufacturer recall

Subaru recalled 2024 Crosstrek and Impreza models in the United States (Crosstrek built between 20 February and 6 June 2023) because the dashboard wiring harness, too close to the steering crossmember bracket, can wear and cause a short circuit, with a risk of loss of traction while driving. Remedy: addition of a clamp and, if necessary, protection or replacement of the harness. This recall concerns American cars: its application to cars sold in Europe is not confirmed, so check the serial number with Subaru.

Fixed free of charge by a dealer and not counted in the reliability score: ask for proof the work was done (invoice, or a VIN check at a dealer).

  2. Recall (United States): crack in the front driveshaft outer cage

    Manufacturer recall

A US recall (23V754) affects certain 2024 Crosstrek and Impreza models (as well as 2023-2024 Forester and 2023 WRX): the outer cage of the front driveshaft can crack because of a faulty cooling process during manufacture, with a risk of loss of traction or of the vehicle moving when stopped without the parking brake. Remedy: inspection and replacement of the driveshafts. Its application to cars sold in Europe is not confirmed, so check the serial number with Subaru.

Fixed free of charge by a dealer and not counted in the reliability score: ask for proof the work was done (invoice, or a VIN check at a dealer).

Read fault codes

An OBD scanner plugged in under the steering wheel shows stored fault codes, even with warning lights off: useful during the test drive.
