Verdict
Electric SUV, a cousin of the Volkswagen ID.4, rated 5 stars by Euro NCAP in 2021 (94% adult occupant protection), with a 585 L boot. Testimonies and used-car guides point mainly to electronics: screen bugs, software and the 12 V battery, sometimes with long immobilisations under warranty. In the German MOT, AUTO BILD also finds service brakes failing six times more often than average: have the brakes, software and battery checked before buying.

Known faults
Service brake failures at the German MOT
Severity 3/3 · SeriousAccording to AUTO BILD (TÜV-Report 2026), the Enyaq's good record is tarnished by the service brake, which is rejected six times more often than for the average vehicle; discs, hoses and lines, however, are judged fault-free. Around one Enyaq aged 2 to 3 years in ten (9.1% with major defects) fails at the first inspection according to Stimme and t-online. The explanation that frequent use of energy recovery, which puts little strain on the brakes, comes from a single site and is not confirmed.

Screen, software and error messages
Severity 1/3 · AnnoyingScreen bugs, restarts and error messages are cited by owners on Fiches-auto, which ranks electronics as the most reported fault on the Enyaq 60. A German used-car guide describes screens that freeze, errors on the instrument cluster shortly after starting, and software that remains a permanent work in progress, whose updates sometimes introduce new faults. Car Verif advises checking the software version and the free update announced for the first examples.

Faulty 12 V battery: car will no longer start
Severity 1/3 · AnnoyingAccording to Fiches-auto, a weak or faulty 12 V battery can immobilise the Enyaq even with the high-voltage battery charged, as it is used to initialise the control units. Owners report an auxiliary battery failure under warranty with a long immobilisation. The Swedish site Minbilkoll lists a discharged 12 V battery among common faults, especially on 2021 to 2023 models. I found no official recall for this fault.

Manufacturer recalls

Inspection checklist

Things to check
- Carry out a full test drive: the central screen and the instrument cluster must come on without errors or restarts, and the air conditioning must respond normally.
- Ask for the software version and check with a Škoda dealer, using the chassis number, that the updates and recall campaigns have been carried out.
- Have the brakes checked (service brake efficiency in particular).
- Test starting after a few days standing and ask whether the 12 V battery has already been replaced.
- Ask for a state-of-health (SoH) diagnosis of the high-voltage battery and test fast charging.
Questions to ask the seller
- Is the software up to date, and have the Škoda recall or service campaigns been carried out? Do you have the documents?
- Has the 12 V battery already been changed, or has the car been immobilised in a workshop?
- Have the brakes been checked or replaced, and has the car had a re-test at the MOT?
Test-drive tip: read the fault codes
A warning light that is off proves nothing: a fault may have been cleared just before the viewing. A Bluetooth OBD2 scanner, plugged in under the steering wheel and read on your phone, shows stored codes and whether all emissions readiness tests have run since the last reset.
