  1. On-board charger failure (AC charging impossible)

    Severity 2/3 · Costly

The on-board charger supplied by Mahle can interrupt charging or refuse to start it: charging on a wallbox or socket (AC) becomes impossible, while fast DC charging remains possible. The fault also affects other Stellantis electric vehicles (e-2008, Corsa-e, etc.). According to Car Verif, 50 kWh e-208s built up to 1 November 2022 are affected. au7o estimates the replacement at between €2,200 and €3,800 at a dealer.

  2. Unintended high-voltage cut-out while driving (recall)

    Manufacturer recall

An overly sensitive high-voltage safety system can cut the power for no reason, causing a loss of power while driving, then prevent restarting for several minutes. Stellantis recalled e-208s for this fault: a software update is often enough, but the on-board charger or the DC-DC converter sometimes has to be replaced.

Fixed free of charge by a dealer and not counted in the reliability score: ask for proof the work was done (invoice, or a VIN check at a dealer).

  3. 12 V battery: car no longer switches to “Ready”

    Severity 1/3 · Annoying

The e-208 relies on its 12 V battery to wake the control units and allow it to start: a weak 12 V battery can immobilise the car even when the traction battery is charged. Owners describe a car that no longer switches to “Ready” mode; the workshop fix involves a check, a software update and replacing the 12 V battery if needed.

Read fault codes

An OBD scanner plugged in under the steering wheel shows stored fault codes, even with warning lights off: useful during the test drive.
