Verdict
A large luxury hybrid saloon (3.5 V6 with 359 hp combined), sold in small numbers; it has not been tested by Euro NCAP. No recurring fault is documented in our sources, but two safety recalls (braking 2019, passenger airbag 2018-2021) should be checked by serial number. The 430-litre boot is modest for the segment.

Known faults
Recall: brake booster pump (2019)
Manufacturer recallRecall 19V-544 (US campaign): the brake booster pump can fail, which disables stability control and removes brake assistance. It concerns 2019 model year LS 500h cars; dealerships inspect and replace the pump if necessary, free of charge. Our sources do not establish whether this applies to cars sold in France: have Lexus check the serial number.
Fixed free of charge by a dealer and not counted in the reliability score: ask for proof the work was done (invoice, or a VIN check at a dealer).

Recall: occupant detection, passenger airbag (Executive trim)
Manufacturer recallRecall 24V-275 (US campaign): the front passenger seat may have been assembled with interference between internal parts, which can affect the occupant classification sensor and prevent the passenger airbag from deploying correctly. It targets 2018-2020 LS 500h cars with the Executive pack; inspection and repair are free at a dealership. Our sources do not establish whether this applies to cars sold in France: have Lexus check the serial number.

Inspection checklist
Lexus LS V (XF50) — inspection checklist
Things to check
- Have Lexus check, using the serial number, that the braking (19V-544) and passenger airbag (24V-275) recalls have been carried out or do not apply.
- Check that the service book is complete, ideally from the Lexus network.
- Test the multimedia system and driver-assistance features: no fault is documented, but the equipment is very extensive.
- Check the number of seats in the car (the L'argus entry for the 4WD mentions 4 seats, other sources say 5) and the condition of the trim, particularly the passenger seat.
- Assess real-world fuel consumption on a mixed test drive: this is the weak point cited by Driving Electric.
Questions to ask the seller
- Have the braking and passenger airbag recalls been checked or carried out at Lexus, with proof?
- Has the service book been followed within the network, with all the invoices?
- Which trim (Luxury, Executive, F Sport) is it exactly, and how many seats does it have?
Test-drive tip: read the fault codes
A warning light that is off proves nothing: a fault may have been cleared just before the viewing. A Bluetooth OBD2 scanner, plugged in under the steering wheel and read on your phone, shows stored codes and whether all emissions readiness tests have run since the last reset.
