Verdict

Good choice, check first

Saloon (510 L boot) and MCV estate (573 L) with large boots, but the MCV only achieved 3 stars at Euro NCAP in 2014. Two safety recalls (steering track rods at the end of 2015, driver's airbag in 2018) should be checked against the serial number. The Easy-R automated gearbox is subject to complaints about clutch and flywheel wear; the 1.5 dCi needs road use to spare the EGR and the particulate filter.

Known faults

Easy-R gearbox clutch and flywheel

Severity 2/3 · Costly

Owners of Logan MCV 0.9 TCe 90 Easy-R models report judder and vibrations when cold, with the clutch and flywheel replaced at around 17,000 km for one, and several times before 25,000 km for another. CarChecker considers this automated gearbox unreliable.

Clogged EGR valve and particulate filter (1.5 dCi)

Severity 1/3 · Annoying

On the 1.5 dCi, the heavily used EGR valve can become blocked and cause jolts and loss of power; its replacement often occurs between 120,000 and 180,000 km according to iDGarages. Car Verif places the EGR and the particulate filter at the top of its checks, and CarChecker advises against this engine for mainly urban use, which clogs the particulate filter.

Recall: steering track rods liable to break (end of 2015)

Manufacturer recall

Steering track rods that are too fragile can break and cause loss of steering. The recall covers Logan, Sandero, Lodgy and Dokker models built from 17 September to 4 December 2015; the part is replaced. Car Verif advises checking this recall if the production date matches.

Fixed free of charge by a dealer and not counted in the reliability score: ask for proof the work was done (invoice, or a VIN check at a dealer).

Recall: driver's airbag that may not deploy properly (2018)

Manufacturer recall

A recall campaign covers Logan and Sandero models produced between April and August 2018: the driver's airbag may not inflate correctly and therefore may not protect in a crash. It is replaced free of charge at an approved workshop; the check is done with the serial number.

Real monthly cost

Fuel, insurance, maintenance and depreciation, excluding finance. Move the slider to match your mileage. How it is calculated

Monthly cost by item
Fuel or electricity€121
Insurance€46
Maintenance€32
Depreciation€65
Total per month€264

⚠ Estimates to treat with caution

  • NEDC consumption (older, more optimistic than WLTP) as no WLTP figure is published: fuel is probably slightly underestimated.
  • Maintenance: published servicing price plus an estimated allowance for tyres and brakes.
  • Depreciation estimated at 12% of the median price a year, as no year-by-year valuation is usable.
Calculation details (12,000 km a year)
Fuel (petrol)€121

0.9 TCe 90 version: combined consumption of 4.9 L/100 km, increased by 15% for real-world driving, at 2.14 €/L, for 1,000 km a month.

4.9 × 1.15 × 2.14 € × 10 = €121

Petrol price (SP95-E10): French national average on 7 October 2026.

Insurance€46

Average monthly premium published for this model by insurance comparison sites (comprehensive cover when stated). Your premium depends on your profile.

Maintenance€32

Servicing and wear parts (tyres, brakes) for 12,000 km a year, per month.

Depreciation€65

Value lost in a year by a typical example, from the valuation gap between two years, per month.

Inspection checklist

Things to check

  • Have a Dacia dealership check, using the serial number, the steering track rod (end of 2015) and driver's airbag (2018) recalls.
  • Easy-R: start from cold and look for judder, vibrations in first gear and jolts when changing gear.
  • 1.5 dCi: look for jolts, loss of power or an engine warning light (EGR, particulate filter) and prefer a car that has been driven on the road.
  • Check there is no dampness in the cabin and the boot, and listen for trim rattles on rough roads.
  • Require the service invoices and do a cold engine test, as Car Verif advises.

Questions to ask the seller

  • Have the steering and airbag recalls been carried out, and do you have proof?
  • Has the clutch or flywheel already been replaced, and at what mileage?
  • Is the car mainly driven in town or on the road, and do you have the service invoices?

Test-drive tip: read the fault codes

A warning light that is off proves nothing: a fault may have been cleared just before the viewing. A Bluetooth OBD2 scanner, plugged in under the steering wheel and read on your phone, shows stored codes and whether all emissions readiness tests have run since the last reset.
