Our conclusion
Both generations share the 1.2 PureTech and 1.5 BlueHDi engines and their serious faults; the 308 II adds faulty AdBlue tanks on its diesels, hence its score of 1.5/5 against 2/5 for the 308 III. The 308 II earned 5 Euro NCAP stars in 2013, and the 308 III earned 4 stars in 2022 under a more demanding test protocol. Boot capacities are close (420 L against 412 L). The 308 III adds hybrid and electric versions, which avoid the combustion-engine faults.
