Our conclusion
These two city cars share the same Stellantis engines and their serious faults: timing belt and oil consumption on the 1.2 PureTech, timing chain on the 1.5 BlueHDi. The C3 III also carries a recall for fire risk (oil spray jets on 82 hp PureTech engines built between 2022 and 2024), which is why it scores 1/5 against 2/5 for the 208. Both earned 4 stars at Euro NCAP (2017 for the C3, 2019 for the 208). The C3 has a bigger boot (300 L against 265 L). In both cases, only buy with a complete service history and proof that the recalls have been carried out.
