PureTech 130

  1. 'Wet' timing belt degradation (1.2 PureTech)

    Severity 3/3 · Serious

On the 1.2 PureTech, the timing belt runs in oil and can disintegrate. Its debris clogs the oil pickup, causing oil pressure to drop, which can destroy the engine. Stellantis extended the belt warranty to 10 years or 175,000 km, subject to servicing conditions, and introduced a new-generation belt in June 2022.

PureTech 180 EAT8

  1. Water ingress in rear lights

    Severity 1/3 · Annoying

DS 7 Crossback owners (diesel and petrol) report rear lights filling with water, often replaced by DS under warranty. Once the warranty has expired, the replacement may be at the owner's expense.

BlueHDi 130

  1. Possible timing chain failure (1.5 BlueHDi)

    Severity 3/3 · Serious

On the 1.5 BlueHDi (DV5), the 7 mm camshaft chain can wear prematurely; the first sign is a rattle on cold start-up. A break can damage the engine. The DS 7 Crossback appears on the list of recalled models (built 2017-2023): the chain is replaced with a reinforced one. Check the serial number with a dealership.

BlueHDi 180 EAT8

  1. From 30,000 km

Faulty AdBlue tank and system (2.0 BlueHDi 180)

    Severity 2/3 · Costly

On the 2.0 BlueHDi 180, urea can crystallise in the AdBlue tank, the injector or the level sensor, triggering a dashboard warning message and often requiring replacement of the tank. DS 7 owners report a tank replaced, sometimes at the customer's expense, including after a breakdown on the motorway. CarVerif reports that the problem appears between 30,000 and 90,000 km and costs 600 to 1,500 euros.

E-Tense 4x4 300

  1. High-voltage battery fault: fire risk (E-Tense)

    Manufacturer recall

Several recalls concern the traction battery of DS 7 Crossback E-Tense plug-in hybrids: battery management software, water ingress that can corrode the housing, and, according to Motorsactu, a cell defect on examples produced between March 2019 and September 2021, with a risk of overheating then fire. The scope and dates vary between campaigns: check the serial number with a DS dealership and require proof that the recalls have been carried out.

Fixed free of charge by a dealer and not counted in the reliability score: ask for proof the work was done (invoice, or a VIN check at a dealer).
