  1. Jerky shifts from the 8-speed automatic gearbox

    Severity 1/3 · Annoying

2016-2017 Camaros with the 8-speed automatic gearbox have experienced shuddering and jerking when changing gears (Jalopnik / SlashGear). GM issued technical service bulletins (TSB 16-NA-175, TSB 18-NA-355) for vibrations linked to the torque converter clutch on 8L45 and 8L90 gearboxes, with a fluid change; the fix did not work for every car and a torque converter replacement was sometimes needed (more than $2,000 according to Jalopnik).

  2. Loss of power steering (recall)

    Manufacturer recall

GM recall 19V086: intermittent loss of electric power steering due to the torque sensor in the Bosch housing, for Camaros built from July 2016 to May 2017 (NHTSA). The remedy is replacement of the housing by a dealer. Recalls concerning 2017 power steering are also listed by VinCheck.

Fixed free of charge by a dealer and not counted in the reliability score: ask for proof the work was done (invoice, or a VIN check at a dealer).
