Recall: fire risk on the 1.2 hybrid (48 V starter-generator)
Manufacturer recallOn the hybrid (MHEV) Junior built between 27 November 2023 and 18 December 2025, the clearance between the petrol particulate filter tube and the protective cap of the 48 V starter-generator is less than 10 mm. In wet conditions, water ingress can cause an electric arc and a thermal event, with a risk of fire. Rappel Conso recommends contacting a dealer.
Fixed free of charge by a dealer and not counted in the reliability score: ask for proof the work was done (invoice, or a VIN check at a dealer).

Recall: fuel leak on the high-pressure line (1.2)
Manufacturer recallA Stellantis recall covers the pipe between the high-pressure pump and the injection rail on the 1.2, affecting 2,108 Alfa Romeo Juniors according to L'argus. A leak can cause excess fuel consumption and a fire risk. The fix consists of tightening the pipe nuts and the rail bolts, at no cost to the customer.

Manufacturer recallTwo recalls affected the Junior, all engines, built until December 2024: incorrect alignment of the Matrix LED headlights (798 cars in France, corrected by a learning procedure at an approved garage) and incorrect power steering calibration that can disable the lane departure warning in bends above 90 km/h (771 cars in France, fixed by a calibration update).

Inspection checklist
Alfa Romeo Junior I — inspection checklist
Things to check
- Have a dealer check, using the serial number, or check on rappel.conso.gouv.fr, that all recalls have been carried out.
- Hybrid: make sure the fire recall (particulate filter tube and 48 V starter-generator) and the high-pressure fuel line recall have been completed.
- Hybrid: test the e-DCT6 gearbox cold and warm, in town and during manoeuvres, listening for jerking or selector lock-ups.
- Check the operation of the Matrix LED headlights and of the lane departure warning.
- Electric: check the condition of the 54 kWh battery and the range actually displayed, quoted between 319 and 410 km depending on the version.
Questions to ask the seller
- Have all manufacturer recalls been carried out, and can you prove it (invoice or dealer certificate)?
- Has the automatic gearbox ever given trouble, or received a software update?
- Was the servicing carried out at an Alfa Romeo dealer, with invoices?
Test-drive tip: read the fault codes
A warning light that is off proves nothing: a fault may have been cleared just before the viewing. A Bluetooth OBD2 scanner, plugged in under the steering wheel and read on your phone, shows stored codes and whether all emissions readiness tests have run since the last reset.
