Our conclusion
Same body, same boot (265 L) and same Euro NCAP rating (4 stars, a 2019 test extended to the electric version), but different reliability. The e-208 (3.5/5) avoids the serious faults of the 208 II's combustion engines (2/5): timing belt and oil consumption on the 1.2 PureTech, timing chain on the 1.5 BlueHDi. Its weak points are specific to the electric version: the on-board charger on cars built up to the end of 2022, a recall for high-voltage cut-out while driving, and the 12 V battery. If you can charge at home, the e-208 is the mechanically safer choice; check charging on an AC wallbox and the recalls before you buy.
